Importing errors

Post by Craig » Fri Jan 25, 2019 7:56 pm

HiFolks
I am having a problem getting some GPX files onto my Garmin 680.
I have the tracks on my phone and can use them with GPX Viewer. No problem.
I have then sent them to my email and saved them onto my computer but I can not get them into BaseCamp. I just get a popup saying "Unknown error opening import file"

Any ideas how I can get them into basecamp please.

Try just cut and pasting the files from the pc to a microsd from the GPS. Make sure they are in a folder called gpx which should be in a subfolder called Garmin. If the folders aren't on the microsd just create them. Then try plugging in the Garmin to the pc/mac

Thanks for the help. I have now tried to copy the files from my PC to an Micro SD card. Put the card into the Garmin but it will not see it.
I have tried to copy direct to the Garmin, also no good.

Try looking at them on gpxvisualizer.

It may be that they are corrupted

I think I am onto something. When I sent them from my phone to my email I see now that the four GPX files are only 1kb each. I am going to try again to get them into basecamp.

Got it. It seems that the email only sent the badges and not the complete files. Dohhh
I have what I hope to be a new northern part of the Dutch TET from Hoogeveen north. Just needed to get the tracks onto the Garmin so I can get out and try them out.

HI Craig. Try to send it by Bluetooth from the phone to the PC. That will work.

Cheers.

Thanks for the reply but as the post above yours says, I figured out what the problem was.
