Chalenging Sections - Slovenia

Post by Wauschi » Thu Nov 09, 2017 12:59 pm

I think it is a good idea to summarize the most challenging sections in one thread.

In general I consider the Slovenian part of the TET very doable for any bike that can handle gravel.
The following sections I identified as the most significant:

45.80283,14.05994 http://www.openstreetmap.org/search?que ... 3/14.05994 is a 1km hiking trail with a sharp edge on the side.

45.81129,14.12923 http://www.openstreetmap.org/search?que ... 7/14.12942 is a small hiking trail which is very slippery when wet.

45.508794, 14.8468 http://www.openstreetmap.org/search?que ... 2/14.84697 is a steep hiking trail with deep water gully in the middle (see image).

In version TET-SLOVENIA-20180406 there is another section one might want to skip if riding heavier bike or riding techniqe is not really advanced.

Start of demanding trail: N45 52.549 E13 48.591
End of demanding trail: N45 50.947 E13 42.219

Hello,

i have another section where I failed in rainy weather. It was too muddy for my Heidenau tire. I came from the north and had to go uphill. The margenta colored route is a good bypass.

It ist on the south of Lipica. Here the coordinates: N45° 39.328' E13° 53.631'

Thanks to Roman Bale. I love TET and I love Slovenia.

The climb close to Vipava in the direction of Croatia proved impossible for us in juni on loaded big bikes after a few km's. (we thought loaded light, but it was still to much)

The conditions were: pretty wet ground and especialy wet stones. (it had rained in the night)

Basically the xt 1200 supertenere failed to find any grip. (to much weigt, to much power) (anakee wild tires) (rider with limited experience)
My 990 adventure would have gone some further but I would have been exhausted just from a few km's. (same tyres) (I have sligtly more experience)

In dry conditions maybe it would have been easyer, but the path is in the forest, so a few dry days are needed.
Also a lot of big stones were in place to stop cars ... but maybe also motorcycles. No signs however.

As an alternative we followed the yellow road to Postonja.
Due to the nearby highway this road was empty en a blast to ride. (100's of long turns)

What's the sea loop in Slovenia like. We did the tet all the way to Kozina...and where literally carrying our little 250's uphill at some parts. Almost died :confusion-helpsign: :facepalm

We don't wanna do the same tomorrow... :D

Best regards

Yes I can confirm, today was going downhill and it was super hard for my DR800 and me. The rocks are slippery and the terrain is very steep. There was no mud either. Cant think how must be to go uphill. If you are not a hardcore driver with a light bike don´t go. My two cents :handgestures-thumbup:
