Neck brace...

Post by ToxicDiver » Mon Feb 12, 2018 7:58 am

Hello,

What would be your brand and model recommendation for a neckbrace. Especially for long trail rides, not just for short rides....
Thanks

I use a neck brace since a year now, after I discovered I run a higher risk of becoming a paraplegic following a skiing accident.
I have experience with only the one brace though, so I can't really advise on which would be the better.

Which one have you gotten?

After having used a Leatt Moto GPX for years, I now switched to a Ortema neck brace for a simple reason. As you wear if over the jacket, it will fit every collar and it's no problem to pull a rain jacket over your riding jacket then. With the Leatt Brace you would either need a special jacket and or the neopren brace cover then.

I tried on the Ortema once.
It's nice and light but I feel it does need the straps to really stay on.
Looking also at Moveo, which can also be worn over the jacket...

I have the Leatt Road STX and it works fine over my jackets.

Hello, I also have the Ortema and find it as you say light and practical since it its ment to be used over the jacket. The adjusters that comes with it is very handy to make it fit right. Combined with the Schubert E1 helmet it is very nice. I combine it with Ortema protection jacket with breast- and collar bone protection ... I need it you see ...

I’ve been using many years LEATT GPX, but once tried Alpinestars Bionic BNS neck brace and was super surprised with the ease of use (magnetic closure) and how it disassembles so it’s use to carry when not in use...
