Route loops back according to website

Post by Qisgood4u » Tue Mar 13, 2018 8:33 am

If you look at the TET Portugal initial page there seems to be a loop in the route in the southeastern part.

But the .gpx-file doesn't show this:

I guess it's obvious it should not make that loop since the whole TET is one long route. But I'm still curious how the original map got to be what it is. Is there a .GPX-file that has that part of the route in it? Maybe it was an early iteration of the map. Reason I'm asking is because I'm doing the TET-Portugal and want to loop it from Malaga, Spain, and the stretch in the southeast seems like a nice stretch.

Hi!

Yes, you are correct! 1st version featured that loop but it was decided to drop it in favour of a linear route and due to some issues regarding the tracks themselves.

If you look carefully, the current route is somewhat different from the "western part" of the map on PT homepage...

Cheers

Wow! Nice! Thanks for the tip! Didn't know about this track. Great suggestion.

Now for the dilemma, 8 days for the TET, 5 days for the ACT, assuming I can ride the allotted times (I'm fairly new at this, and alone, and a heavy bike), plus I meant to stay with friends in Porto. But only 14 days to do it all in, then I have to be back in Málaga! Spoiled for choice :lol

ACT would be a nice warm up and is more aimed at the maxi-trails so that's what I'd choose in your shoes. If all goes well and youve warmed up then try the TET. You can always jump off it

Couldn't agree more. Alone with a big bike I'd suggest to take it easy and do the ACT. You can always try the TET whenever they cross or, gather a few friends and do the TET next time :handgestures-thumbup:

When are you thinking coming to Portugal? Currently there are some trails that are floded... Crossing the highway from Porto to Lisbon we can see fields that became lakes and trails that disappear for 50 or 100m underwater. Weather forecast predicts an improvement of weather next couple of days but rain should return by the end of the week.

I'll take it into account. In that case I would ride the ACT back to front. But that's ok. Thanks for the suggestions.

I'll be there from April 11 through 25!
