Snow in February/March

Post by Sie3en » Tue Nov 28, 2017 4:29 pm

Hi,

I inted to ride the greek section by end of February next year. My plan is to start in Athens then go round the Pelepones and work my way up to Tirana in Albania. In another forum a guy pointed out that there might be snow in the mountains especially in the northern parts of Greece so early in the spring. Has anybody ridden there and has any experience so far?

I think you will have to skip a big part of dirt road's in greece, and probably the most worthy mountain dirt road's if choose to come at that time of the year. Especially in the north.

What StefAr said is right, you'll probably find a lot of difficulties in the northern part. As for starting mid March I cannot promise anything because the weather the last few years is very unpredictable. Last year we had very good weather until December but after that it was one of the worst winters I remember. There was a lot of cold and a lot of snow until May.
