Hey fellow Austrians!
In the past years, I have never been riding Offroad in Austria. I live in Vienna and simply don't know any tracks that would be free to ride legally.
Since I had a couple of offroad tours in foreign countries in the past years, I am thinking of buying a bike that is more suitable for off the roads.
But does that even make sense? Are there even any tracks here in my area? I don't want to buy a bike that is then staying in the garage.
Kind regards, Flo from Vienna

Hey Flo!

I was in the exact same situation and bought a KTM 690 Enduro only to realize that this bike doesnt make much sense given the circumstances.

Austria. like other developed European countries, is very very limited. Especially when you live in a bigger city where theres a big density of people also in the surrounding areas.

Even tho I would like to ride more offroad I had to accept that its simply not really possible and hence I bought a twin cylinder (790 ADV R) and its probably also the best for you (Africa Twin, BMW 800 GS, Triumph Tiger 800, etc).

A friend who lives near Vienna found Hungary pretty good for gravel roads. Hes now scouting some tracks there with his Africa Twin.

Unfortunately I dont live in Vienna anymore (Salzburg) now otherwise we could have teamed up.

Cheers

Btw: if you guys are looking for a riding buddy close to you - check out this map:

Adventure Riders Europe: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit? ... 000059&z=5

And of course it helps when you also add your location, name & contact.

Thanks for your input, I totally agree. Nevertheless, I just bought a Himalayan, and I am going to explore some Tracks. At least some paths have to exist here. And other tet-countries are not that far!

So if anyone knows where to go offroad in Austria, let me know!
