Indeed you need to select one the maps such as City navigator, Topo or whatever maps you have installed in Basecamp to see trails and even then the TET track might not always follow roads on the maphilariomedina wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2018 8:54 amHello,
I tested the TET map and surprise I see no trails

Everything about following the wiggly line and finding the stuff to the left and right of it
Are there any maps you would recommend for TET scandinavia for my older Garmin GPSmap 278 ?
I'm not familiar with the older Garmins so perhaps some one else with experience can answer that question

Just loaded freizeitkarte map onto an ancient etrex vista cx and it shows up beautifully.*kartman* wrote:Are there any maps you would recommend for TET scandinavia for my older Garmin GPSmap 278 ?

Haha, Freizeitkarte is downloading at the moment :)
I also tried the opentopo yesterday and in works fine in BaseCamp, but I can't install it on my Garmin 278. All other maps work (Freizeitkarte, City Navigator, OSM Northern Europe, Topo Germany and various others), it's just the opentopo making trouble.
The problem I found with opentopo maps is that if I install using Basecamp to the device (Montana 610) it always fails. It worked just once but sent only the Base map. The contour layers file did not get transferred.
Workaround - Download the Garmin Files and placed them in the SDcard and it worked with the layers option. The Garmin files (zip file) contains two img files - Basemap and Contours. For Basecamp I use the installer so that I can plan using opentopo maps
But I can just load one IMG file to my older Garmin 278, so I have to create a mapset first, but USB export also fails when using BaseCamp and OpenTopo (works with all other maps also)
Ah yes I guess the older ones can load only 1 map since it needs files with a specific name.
