Transfering maps

Post by Craig » Fri Feb 02, 2018 5:31 am

Right. I have my Montana 680.
Trying to get a detailed map into BaseCamp.
I have downloaded the map from Frikart and it is installed via memory card in the Montana but when I try to load it into BaseCamp from the Montana it says there are no unlocked maps.
I can see the maps on basecamp when the Montana is plugged into the PC but not once I disconnect the UBS lead.
Any ideas greatly welcomed.

Craig, many if the free map sources offer you options before download ie a file for the gps or a file for Base camp or etc etc . That's certainly the case with http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl

Craig, as said above
1. go to http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl
2. choose country
3. click download map now
4. in a new window click osm_generic_windows.exe
5. execute the downloaded file once download in finished
6. you will see the new map in basecamp's top bar clicking on maps

hope that helps

I was trying to import the EXE files into Basecamp instead of opening the exe file and allowing it to install itself.
