Use Garmin IMG Maps in Locus Map Pro?

Locus Map Pro is not the esiast navigation map on Android to configure but one of the most powerful. So far it is the app being able to read 12 different maps formats, including the very popular Garmin IMG Format. A huge bunge of map sources using IMG format is provided through the following wiki pa...

Re: Garmin files

That is totally different between several Garmin models. Therefore easiest way is to install them first to BaseCamp and then use the Map Install function in BaseCamp to transfer them to your device.

For any other way please mention exact Garmin Model and build.

Re: Garmin Montana 610 Purchase/Hire

For all who prefer to use a Garmin device instead of going by app like Locus Map Pro on a rugged smartphone device my personal preference to track riding based on garmin devices are the Montana 610 and 680. From a track riding perspective there is no relevant different between those two models.

Re: Viewranger vs Locus Map

You can use exact the same and even more maps in Locus Map Pro as in OSMAnd+. Locus Map Pro supports 12 different map file formats including the Garmin IMG format. So the only capability which is needed to download maps, transfer to your SD in your phone and add them as external maps in Locus Map Pr...

Re: Easy to use track editor for gpx files ?

Many are not aware, but BaseCamp itself is free to download and use. It is not needed to have a Garmin device. Same along you can install free maps in garmin file format on your PC and vola, you have a not so bad offline capable software for editing tracks, routes and waypoints.

Re: Viewranger vs Locus Map

That is definitely true that what one is used to drives what one feels well with. I am personally more into Locus Map Pro and OSMAnd+ than to view rangen when speaking about Anroid as operating system. On iOS devices I am scattered by the much lower functionality of OSMAnd in compare to its Android ...

Re: Viewranger vs Locus Map

OSMAnd+ and Locus Map Pro have many similarities. The main advantage of OSMAnd+ is the very comfortable way to download OSM maps. Locus Map Pro does not offer this functionality. Wait here we have to be more precise. OSM does not longer allow Locus Map Pro to directly (unlimited) download OSM Maps t...

Re: Viewranger vs Locus Map

Using Android and iOS side by side and having tested more than 20 navigation apps on both I have to admitt that the more powerful apps exist for Android. But that should not mean iOS is poor or bad, by far not! The situation is that - depending on your needs - currently android based navigation apps...
